Flamenco Guitar 18:00 to 21:00
Flamenco Guitar Horse and Groom
I will play Flamenco guitar at the Horse and Groom on 01 March 2023.
Following the success of the first night I am delighted that they have booked me again for Wednesday 05 April.
They are Spanish and they have a very big offer of Spanish food.
Because of this, they present a Spanish night each first Wednesday of the month.
Playing Spanish guitar music to accompany the evening
As you can imagine, I am very happy that the Horse and Groom have asked me to play.
My repertoire is extensive and as such I can I will be offering a very varied recital.
There are essentially three styles that I think will be appropriate for this Spanish evening.
In all cases I carefully choose pieces that are enjoyable for all listeners.
- Spanish Flamenco guitar music
- South American styles
- Spanish classical pieces
Perhaps my videos also give more ideas of some of the music that I play.
Of course, nothing is set in stone.
Therefore, I may play a combination of all three of focus more on one of the styles.
For example, if there are many Spanish people present who are familiar with flamenco and make requests my focus may be more flamenco.
If the atmosphere feels quiet then some of the soft and gentle Spanish classical pieces may be ideal.
The fun South American styles are an ideal compliment to the perhaps more robust Spanish styles.
Naturally, if you are familiar with Spanish music, I am happy to play requests if these are in my repertoire.
I am sure you will love the Spanish food and I hope that my guitar will provide the perfect musical background.
Spanish Guitar Night Update
Following the wonderful success of the first night I feel I want to add a few comments about the evening.
A group of Spanish people and separately a flamenco dancer were present.
I noticed that the flamenco dancer was following the rhythm of my playing and we got talking.
They told me that their favourite flamenco form is Alegrias.
Needless to say, I was happy to play that piece.
Naturally I chatted a little with the Spanish people.
However, it is really important to say that I love playing for all people, not just other flamenco performers or Spanish people.
I was delighted that a family stopped to say they had enjoyed the music.
In fact, I saw that they had made a nice comment on Social Media.
