I am never entirely sure if it is a good idea to post this video at the top of the page.
It is just one small example of the extensive flamenco repertoire.
In this case it is quite soft and restrained.
Other pieces are quite the opposite.

In some videos I play solo whilst in others I either play duets or accompany dancers.

Flamenco performance options

I offer essentially three formats:

1. Solo Spanish Flamenco guitar recitals
2. Duets with castanet players
3. Shows with flamenco dancers

I love all of these options and here are some examples of previous engagements.

Complete Flamenco Show Royal Leamington Spa

The clients booked myself playing flamenco guitar, two flamenco dancers and a flamenco singer.
At first, I was not very keen.
I guessed that the clients wanted a lot of noise and showy dancing.
In cases like this sometimes people want to try flamenco dancing. 
They did want to. I was right about that.
However, I was completely wrong in thinking that they just wanted some kind of Spanishy, superficial show.
What the clients actually wanted was a very high standard flamenco performance.

They wanted to see skilful flamenco dancing and listen to authentic flamenco singing.
Further they anticipated that my flamenco guitar solos would certainly be good to listen to but to also contain all techniques and complexities.
This was very exciting for us.
We felt we could really push ourselves and deliver our very best performance.

Spanish guitar for a Spanish language group

This was a lovely low key evening with a group of Spanish language learners in Stratford upon Avon.

After a year of study, they decided to celebrate their achievement.

What I really enjoyed about playing for them was how much they respected my Spanish flamenco guitar music.

They asked intelligent questions about the music.

Furthermore, they had listened to flamenco guitarists in Spain.

I enjoy playing for small events like this just as much as big public performances.

Private party, Nuthurst Grange, Hockley Heath Warwickshire

This engagement was very special.
I was booked to play Spanish guitar music for a family gathering.
They requested Spanish classical compositions, some pieces with a South American feel and of course lots of traditional flamenco.

They wanted a mixture of moods.
As such, this gave me the opportunity to provide a very varied programme.
Thus, some pieces were gentle and sweet while others were fast and virtuoso.

Flamenco guitar pieces

The flamenco guitar repertoire is very broad.
Given this, I decided to carefully build my recital to include examples of all flamenco styles.

These included happy styles such as Alegrias, Cantiñas and Garrotin.
Pieces with a distinct South American flavour such as Rumba, Guajira and Colombiana.

In contrast I also included some softer flamenco pieces such as Granaína, Minera and the very pretty Zapateado en Re.

In contrast I played the fast and powerful Bulerias that you can hear in my sound clips.
