I played flamenco guitar for the Crown at Bishops Cannings a few months ago.
As you can imagine, I am so happy that they have now asked me to return.
I see on their social media posts that the event is fully booked.
I am not surprised!
The Crown provides excellent food in a lovely atmosphere.
My memories as a musician for my previous engagement:
The customers were absolutely lovely cultured people.
Of course, very few people go out to dinner to listen attentively to a very complex recital of concert hall pieces.
Certainly, I don’t.
So quite naturally I play pieces which are fun to listen to.
They are not heavy going.
Yet, I won’t make them over simplistic.
People do not want that either.
When I play for events, I do think carefully about striking the right balance.
For those of you who may be familiar with the flamenco forms I will certainly play a few in the style of Sevillanas and the South American rhythms of Rumba, Guajira and Colombiana.
But I will balance these with styles such the lovely Granaína.
There are music clips throughout this site and further examples on my Video Page.
