My flamenco dancers are all superb.
Being Spanish they have trained in Spain and are now working in Britain.
The truth is that most of their dances are very impressive.
They use plenty of the fast percussive flamenco footwork.
This said they show all elements of flamenco dance in  their choreographies.
Additionally, they play castanets very skilfully.
Thus, we play a number of guitar and castanet duets.

Choosing your Spanish show options

Here are a few ideas which I hope are helpful.

Solo Spanish guitar is the easiest to set up.

I arrive early and set up microphone and amplifier if necessary.

Sometimes the natural sound of the guitar is perfect and sufficient.
I do not need much space.
If using amplification, I prefer to be close to an electric socket.
This avoids trailing cables across the floor.

I usually arrive elegantly dressed.
If my drive is very long, I prefer to get changed on arrival and need a place for this.
I just need one normal chair.

Flamenco guitarist and dancer set up

This is a little more complicated.

Flamenco dancers need a wooden floor so that their footwork can be heard.
They need a proper place to get changed, not just a toilet.
Their costumes take up a lot of space.
Often, they like to change costumes to suit different dances.

The more dance space they have the better.
We need two normal chairs.

In this particular case the party was for Spanish people.
They wanted a Spanish guitarist who could speak Spanish and talk about the music.
So, I felt very comfortable.
I do sometimes present my pieces in English.
However, that involves translating terms and explaining aspects of Spanish culture.
People may not be familiar with the authentic Spanish way of experiencing flamenco.
As these people were Spanish it made it easier for me.
I hope this does not sound bad to all my wonderful non Spanish clients.
Perhaps I am just trying to say I had a lovely time playing flamenco guitar and presenting in Spanish.

Dorchester Festival Flamenco Performance

This was some years ago but is such a good memory that I will explain it here.

The Dorchester Festival contracted me together with my flamenco dancer. 
Our performance was in the afternoon in their Big White Tent.

They already had a very famous flamenco guitarist Juan Martín booked for the evening.
I imagine that they thought that my flamenco performance would be a good second act.
That it might encourage people to attend the evening performance.

The Big White Tent really was very big.
At first, I was worried that my sound would not reach all the audience.

In fact, they had a superlative sound engineer and state of the art amplification.
I could hear myself perfectly and had confirmation that my guitar reached the very back rows beautifully.
My flamenco dancer said that the wooden stage floor was ideal for flamenco dancing.

As such, we felt absolutely overjoyed to perform at the Dorchester Festival.
