La Terraza Upton Northampton
Solo Flamenco Guitar for La Terraza Upton Northampton.
New Date!!!!!
Actually big new date:
Sunday 28 August 2022
I love playing at La Terraza in Upton Northampton.
As is my custom at this restaurant I will not only play serious flamenco.
I will also play some lighter South American improvisations and some relaxing Spanish classical pieces.
As above my next date at La Terraza will be Sunday 15th May 2022.
Super pleased to play again at this lovely Spanish restaurant.
I hope you all enjoy my selection of Spanish flamenco.
My first performance after lockdown!
I have played at La Terraza Upton several times.
La Terraza has been closed but I think providing take away.
Now Kelly Griffin will open the doors once again.
My performance date is:
Sunday 23rd May 2021
1pm to 4pm (with breaks)
My Spanish Guitar for La Terraza
La Terraza is a lovely gentle family restaurant.
Because of this I am going to play several of the lighter types of flamenco music.
These will include flamenco pieces of South American origin such as Rumba, Guajira, Milonga and Colombiana.
Of course, it is probable as always that several clients have been to Spain and are familiar with authentic flamenco.
As such I will be more than happy to include a few of the more robust flamenco styles.
About La Terraza Upton, Northampton
La Terraza is owned and managed by Kellie Griffin.
I first spoke with Kellie about playing flamenco guitar for her about a year after the opening of La Terraza Grange Park, also in Northampton very close to junction 15 of the M1.
For one reason or another I did not go ahead at that time but am now very pleased to have played for her clientele.
As with all my performances I try to gauge the mood and select pieces from my repertoire that I feel are most appropriate at any given moment.
Thus, I may play quite gently or conversely, I may feel that it is right to play one of my more powerful flamenco pieces.
Videos of my playing
You can see examples of my flamenco guitar playing at my videos page.
Here is an example where I play the slow section from the masterpiece Zapateado en Re by Sabicas.
I will always play the full composition in performances, whether in concert or at Spanish events.
But I think it is interesting here to see just how sensitive flamenco music can be.
If you watch right through to the end you will see how the music starts to grow in intensity and the flamenco “growl” is heard just very slightly.
