Spanish Fundraiser St Peter's School Buckinghamshire
The Friends of St Peter’s Catholic Primary School have organised a truly beautiful day to raise funds for the school.
I am absolutely delighted that I can collaborate with this event.
I played for the last year on Saturday 24 June 2023.
Now they have asked me to return to play flamenco guitar again on Saturday 8 June 2024.
Primary school education is such an important foundation for children.
I will start to play Spanish Flamenco Guitar at about 8.00 pm or 8.30 pm.
At first it seemed that I was not going to be able to play for this event at all as I have a previous booking earlier that same day.
Many thanks to Alex and Pilar for not giving up and really making this happen.
Alex, is British, Pilar is Spanish and this event is open to all people of all faiths and backgrounds.
This is important to me.
I have said many times that of course I like to play my Flamenco guitar to Spanish people who already know and understand flamenco.
However, I absolutely love to play my music for all people from all over the world.
Music is an experience for everyone to enjoy.
Paella is being provided by the superb Valencia Supper Club.
I have eaten paella by Valencia Supper Club and I can confirm that they are one of the very best Paellas in the U.K.
Serdio Ibericos provide tapas. Esther Serdio Diaz is a specialist in the fine skill of carving Jamón.
In my own personal opinion this is important because how the Jamón is expertly carved will affect how we enjoy eating it.
Esther is from Huelva in the region of Andalusia which is of course where flamenco originates.
Sweet delicacies from Como en Casa
Lucia from Lucidez Dance will dance flamenco.
I have never worked with Lucia but I have worked at events where we were both booked independently.
Lucia brings happy energy and people really want to get up and dance.
So don’t forget your dancing shoes.
And so much more.
In Spain 24 June is Noche de San Juan which is a very big celebration.
Usually with lots of fireworks.
There may not be fireworks.
But there will be lots of fun and enjoyment for all the family.
As you can see from the above the Friends of St Peter’s Catholic Primary School have gone all out to get the very best for each element of the event.
I am carefully preparing all of my very best pieces.
I will certainly play authentic flamenco.
However, I do also include other styles in my repertoire.
For instance, some of the flamenco styles are of South American origin. We call these Guajira, Colombiana and Rumba.
I do also like to play some Spanish classical pieces but their mood is always rather flamenco.
Typical examples that I play are Recuerdos de La Alhambra by Francisco Tárrega and Asturias by Isaac Albéniz.
I tend to decide what to play just at the moment depending on my inspiration.
You can listen to audio files throughout my website and perhaps you might also enjoy some of my Videos.
